WeRide Orders 2,000 Robotaxis Built on the Farizon SV Platform
WeRide partners with Farizon to produce 2,000 new GXR Robotaxis based on the SV in 2026, highlighting the potential of Geely's electric van platform

One news story that clearly reflects the engineering strength of the Farizon SV is that WeRide, a Chinese autonomous driving technology company, chose the SV platform as the base for its updated GXR Robotaxi. In March 2026, the two companies announced they would produce a total of 2,000 units within the same year, with vehicles rolling off Farizon's production line from the third quarter.
Details of the partnership
According to information released by both companies, WeRide's Robotaxi fleet numbered around 1,023 vehicles in January 2026, and the additional 2,000 will take the total fleet past 2,600. The new vehicles use WeRide's Gen8 autonomous driving system, featuring high-resolution LiDAR with a detection range of up to around 600 meters.
Another interesting point is on the production side. The company says co-designing at the platform level has cut the time to install the autonomous driving kit from around an hour to under ten minutes per vehicle, and may reduce vehicle cost by around 15%. These figures come from the company itself, but they show the direction of industrial-scale electric commercial vehicle production.
Why the SV platform suits driverless vehicles
Autonomous vehicles require control systems that can be precisely operated by electronic signals, with backup redundancy. This aligns perfectly with the Dual-redundant drive-by-wire which Farizon has built into the SV from the start, so both steering and braking are ready to connect to a driving computer without major structural modifications. In addition, the spacious cabin, flat floor and B-pillarless side door make boarding easy for passengers — the heart of any ride-hailing service.
Perspective for Thai businesses
Although Robotaxi services are not yet close at hand in Thailand, this news tells commercial vehicle buyers several things
- A platform chosen by a technology company must have passed rigorous evaluation of its electrical and software stability
- Increased production volume strengthens the parts supply chain and supplier base over the long term
- Vehicles bought today sit on an architecture that supports driver assistance systems and future updates
For staff shuttle businesses, hotel transfers or industrial estate transport services, this kind of platform readiness is assurance that your investment won't become outdated too quickly.
