Riddara Studies Local Production in Thailand and Sets 2026 Electric Pickup Sales Target

Riddara reveals plans to study an electric pickup production base in Thailand, with a sales target of 3,000–5,000 units and a network expansion to 38 locations by 2026

Riddara Studies Local Production in Thailand and Sets 2026 Electric Pickup Sales Target

Riddara, the new energy pickup brand of Geely Holding Group, sees Thailand as more than just a sales market. Information reported by the Bangkok Post and republished by international EV media such as electrive indicates that the company is studying the feasibility of establishing an EV production base in Thailand, which could also serve as an export hub for other Southeast Asian countries.

From newcomer to electric pickup market leader

The Riddara RD6 entered the Thai market in October 2024 and is considered the first fully electric pickup seriously sold in the country. In November 2025, the brand launched the ECON, an electric pickup for commercial use. All vehicles are currently still imported from the factory in Zibo, Shandong Province, China.

In 2025, Riddara sold around 1,000 electric pickups in Thailand. Although the figure is still small compared with the overall pickup market, the brand holds almost the entire share of the fully electric pickup segment.

2026 targets and network expansion

Riddara's management in Thailand says that although the overall pickup market has slowed, the company has a positive long-term growth outlook, as electric pickups clearly reduce energy costs compared with combustion vehicles. The key points of its 2026 plan are:

  • Sales target of between 3,000 and 5,000 units
  • Prepare additional new models, including a single-cab pickup for transport work
  • Expand sales outlets and service centers to 38 locations nationwide this year
  • Begin sales in neighboring countries such as Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines

What it means for Thai customers

If local production goes ahead, users may benefit from better parts availability, shorter waiting times and models designed more closely around how Thai drivers use their vehicles. At the same time, the expanding service network eases concerns about vehicle care in the provinces — a key question for those who use pickups for work.

However, the factory plan is still at the study stage, and no official timeline has been announced. Motor Creation will follow developments and keep customers informed once the brand makes an announcement.
