Power from Your Pickup: Understanding the Riddara RD6's V2L System
The RD6 has a power outlet of around 6 kW in the cargo bed, genuinely useful for working off-site. This article explains what it can power, its limitations and what you should know about three-phase power.

An electric pickup carries a large battery beneath its floor, which isn't just for driving — it can also power external equipment. This capability is called Vehicle-to-Load, or V2L, and it has been a highlight the Riddara RD6 has offered Thai pickup users since launch. For those who work on site, farm or love camping, V2L means taking a power source with you everywhere, with no need to carry a generator.
How V2L works on the RD6
Thai-market specifications state that RD6 models with the 73 kWh battery and above come with a 6 kW power outlet in the cargo bed area, using a European-standard socket. Power is drawn directly from the drive battery through an inverter that converts DC into household AC, so you can plug in equipment just as you would at a wall socket at home. Some overseas sources quote an output of 6.6 kW; actual figures depend on the model and production year, so please ask at the showroom before planning your use.
What can 6 kilowatts power?
This level of power is enough for most equipment used off-site, such as:
- Power tools such as drills, grinders, circular saws and small welders
- Small water pumps for gardens or vegetable plots, and lighting for night work
- Rice cookers, kettles, portable fridges and equipment for booths or market stalls
- Computers, projectors and sound systems for events
Remember that the combined power of equipment used at the same time should not exceed the rating, and motorized equipment often draws more power at startup than shown on its label, so allow a margin of around 20 to 30 percent.
Getting three-phase power right
Many business owners ask about three-phase power for machinery such as deep-well pumps or large motors. Currently, the Thai-market specification documents we have been able to verify list only a single-phase household outlet, with no confirmation of three-phase output from the vehicle. In China, there are reports that the updated Chinese-market model offers higher power output, but it has not been confirmed for Thailand. If your work requires three-phase power, consult an electrician about suitable and safe power conversion equipment, and ask our sales team for the latest information before deciding.
Manage your battery so you can still get home
Power output draws from the same battery used for driving. For example, using 3 kW continuously for 4 hours consumes around 12 kWh, a small share of a 73 or 86 kWh battery, but always aim to keep enough energy to get back to a charging point. Plan ahead by charging fully before heading out, and check the remaining range on the screen regularly.
V2L is one of the reasons electric pickups are clearly different from combustion pickups, and it's well worth trying for yourself before you decide.
